Team MPSD is our competitive dance program — a dedicated group of dancers who train at the highest level, represent our studio at competitions across Canada, and push each other to be their very best. If your dancer is ready for that next challenge, we want to hear from them.
Auditions for the 2026/2027 season take place on Saturday, June 13th. This is the opportunity to be considered for Team MPSD and all that comes with it — intensive training, performance opportunities, and a community of driven, passionate dancers who share the same ambition.
What We Are Looking For
Team MPSD dancers come from a range of styles and backgrounds — what they share is a commitment to their craft and a willingness to work hard. At auditions we are looking for:

- A strong technical foundation across at least one or more styles
- Musicality, performance quality, and stage presence
- A coachable attitude and genuine passion for dance
- The ability to take direction and apply corrections
- A readiness for the commitment that competitive dance requires
You do not need to be a competition veteran to audition. Some of our strongest team members auditioned for the first time with no prior competition experience.
What to Expect on Audition Day
Auditions are run in a warm and supportive environment — we want every dancer to feel comfortable and able to show their best. On the day, participants will:

- Perform a short prepared piece or combination if applicable
- Have the opportunity to meet the coaching team and ask questions

What age group is Team MPSD for?
The competition team accepts dancers across a range of age divisions. Register your interest and include your dancer’s age and experience — we will confirm which division would be the right fit.
Does my child need prior competition experience?
No. We evaluate dancers on their technical ability, coachable attitude, and passion for dance. First-time competition dancers are welcome to audition.
What is the time commitment for the competition team?
Competitive dance requires a significant commitment — regular rehearsals, competition weekends, and additional training throughout the season. Full details of the schedule and expectations will be shared with dancers who are offered a place on the team.
What should my dancer wear to auditions?
Comfortable dance wear appropriate to their style. Ballet dancers should wear a leotard and tights with ballet shoes. Jazz, lyrical, and contemporary dancers should wear fitted dance wear. Tap dancers should bring tap shoes. A full preparation guide will be sent to registered participants.
When will audition results be communicated?
We aim to communicate outcomes to all participants within one week of the audition date.
