Dancing Together: Our Studio Guidelines

Ensuring a positive, safe, and enriching experience for all through clear expectations and mutual respect

Registration and Payment

  • Tuition is due at the beginning of each term or according to the payment plan selected.
  • Late payments may incur additional fees.
  • We accept cash, debit, and Visa/Mastercard and pre-authorized credits card payments are available.
  • All account fees must be paid in full by the last day of classes in order to receive recital costumes.

Withdrawals and Refunds

  • Written notice is required for all withdrawals.
  • Refunds are prorated based on the date of withdrawal notice.
  • Competition registration fees are nonrefundable.
  • Costume deposits are non-refundable after December 31st.

Missed Classes

  • No refunds or credits are given for missed classes.
  • Make-up classes may be available for certain programs – check with the office.
  • Extended absences due to illness or injury may be eligible for credit with a doctor’s note.
  • Students must have 85% attendance to be eligible to dance in the recital, be considered for a dance exam, or participate in competition. 

Storm Closings and Cancellations

  • Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced on our website and social media.
  • Classes for weather-related cancellations will not be rescheduled.

Dress Code

  • Proper dance attire is required for all classes. Specific requirements vary by dance style.
  • Hair must be securely fastened away from the face for all classes.
  • No jewelry is allowed during class for safety reasons.
  • Refer to the class-specific dress code for detailed requirements.

Studio Etiquette

  • Students should arrive 5-10 minutes before class start time.
  • No food or chewing gum is allowed in the dance studios.
  • Water in closed containers is permitted.
  • Cell phones must be silenced and put away during class time.

Photo and Video Policy

  • MPSD may use photos and videos of students for promotional purposes.
  • Parents who do not wish their child to be video recorded or photographed by MPSD must notify the office in writing.
  • No personal photography or videography is allowed during classes under any circumstances.

Health and Safety

  • Students must inform instructors of any health issues or injuries.
  • MPSD reserves the right to require a doctor’s note for participation after injury or illness.
  • In case of emergency, MPSD staff may call for medical assistance.

By enrolling in classes at Mount Pearl School of Dance, students and parents agree to abide by these policies. We reserve the right to modify these policies as needed, with notice to our dance community.
