Irish Step

Step dancing studied at MPSD is distinctively Irish, following the set dances set out by An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha. Students will learn the intricate footwork of traditional set solo dances and ceili (group) dances. What to wear?

Contemporary / Lyrical

A dance form that incorporates elements of ballet, jazz, and free style movement to a wide variety of music. You will explore a full range of body movement which will develop posture and strength. What to wear?

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. This clas will explore musicality, versatility and improvisation, floorwork and dynamic movement. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music. What to wear?

Lyrical dance conveyr the emotion of a song's lyrics through movement and expression. Powerful songs are often used in lyrical class to give dancers a chance to express a range of strong emotions through their dancing. Ballet technique is an asset to this style. What to wear?

Bboyin/Bgirlin

Break dance is a s treet dance style and is part of the hip hop movement. It is a very athletic form of dance including "power moves" and "freezes" along with general footwork. What to wear?

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a street dance that was born in NYC in the late 1960's. In this class not only will our students learn the history of Hip Hop, they will learn basics in all the different styles (such as funk party dancing, locking, popping, old school and new school Hip Hop) set to appropriate music. Latin Jazz

Teen to adult

Latin music creates an energetic rhythm that will surely make your hips move. Using steps from Mambo, Cha Cha and Salsa, Latin Jazz combines the sassiness of Latin dance with more traditional elements of Jazz technique. What to wear?

HEELS DANCE

This is an awesome way to work out and feel great! It's easy, fun and there's a lot of laughter in class. As long as you're a woman, you hae all the tools necessary to do this kind of dancing well. You'll feel more confident and extremely liberated. Give it a Try! What to wear?

Dance for Young Children

Educators know training young children in the concepts of movement and patterning lays a strong foundation for the development of reading, mathematics, and other educational skills. Children in our programs work actively in these areas:

Level 1

Age 3 yrs

At this age your child is new to learning how the body moves. In this program your child will receive a gentle introduction to the classroom environment while exploring music and movement.

Level 2

1 hr

Age 4 yrs

At this age many types of movement characterizations are used to develop your child's movement quality and imagination with a stronger emphasis on counting music and using opposites.

Level 3

1 hr

Age 5 to 6 yrs

this age group works on the same concepts as the 3-4 year olds with a greater degree of complexity. At this stage, your child will explore basic technique for the study of classical ballet which begins at age 7.

Ballet / Jazz Combo

Age 6 to 8 yrs

A transition class for children who wish to explore more than one dance form but may not have developed the stamina to add a second full class.
